Soro: Continuing with the growing sexual abuse of women in the State, Soro Police today arrested a man for raping a 12-year-old girl in Dahisada village in Balasore district.
The accused has been identified as Panda Singh (32) of the same village.
As per the report, a verbal duel had erupted between Singh and his wife last night following which the latter had fled from her house. While all the villagers were busy in searching her wife in and around the village, the victim was accompanying him in the search when he overpowered her near a railway track to sexually assault.
The matter came to fore after the minor narrated the whole incident before his family members this morning.
Soro Police arrested Singh later in the day today following a complaint from the girl’s family and booked under Sections 354 (outraging the modesty), 341 (wrongful restraint), section-342 (wrongful confinement), section-506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and sections- 4 and 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012.
The accused will be forwarded to court tomorrow.
