Keonjhar: A woman was seriously injured after being thrashed brutally by her husband in Naduan village under Ghasipura police limits late last night. The woman was also left hanging in a nearby forest by her husband.
The woman, however, had a miraculous escape after the branch of the tree was snapped. She was rescued by an elderly man and was rushed to the Anandpur Sub-Division Hospital in a critical condition.
The victim alleged that her husband tried to kill her as she was opposing his second marriage. “We have been staying separately due to marital discord. I started staying with my parents and he married another woman. He persuaded me to return home a few days ago. However, he, along with few others thrashed me severely and left me to die in the forest,” alleged the victim.
Police said that the accused husband has escaped from the area after the incident. “We have started an investigation after registering a case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code. We are also trying to nab the husband of the woman,” said a police official.
