Paradip: In a ghastly incident, a man hacked his younger brother to death in the port city of the state this morning. The incident took place at quarter no B-25 of Nuabazar Colony of Paradip of Jagatsinghpur district.
The deceased has been identified as Sudipta Swain (32).
According to reports, Sudipta had an alleged-fight with his elder brother Pradipta Swain over some unknown reasons following which the latter killed the former by hacking him with a sharp weapon.
Some locals rescued Sudipta in a critical condition and rushed him to the Paradip Port Trust Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
After getting information about the matter from some neighbours, Paradip police rushed to the spot where the murder took place. Besides, they visited the hospital and started an investigation into the matter. They directed the doctors to conduct postmortem of Sudipta’s body.
The cops also arrested Pradipta and detained his father Gaurang Swain and are interrogating them to ascertain the exact reason behind the murder. Pradipta’s wife also has been detained by the police.
Further probe into the matter is underway.
