Nayagarh: In a ghastly incident a youth hacked his elder brother to death at Chadheipalli village under Sarankul police limits in Nayagarh district late last night. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
The incident took place late last night when the victim identified as Kubera Sahu (36) was sleeping and the accused Dhaneswar (25) hacked him to death with an axe. Police said that the victim died on the spot.
Later the wife of the deceased lodged a police complaint. However, the accused surrendered before the police in the wee hours of Wednesday. “The body has been handed over to the family members after postmortem. We are further interrogating the accused to ascertain the motive behind the crime,” said a police official.
