Man Hacked To Death On Suspicion of Practising Sorcery In Ganjam

Ganjam:  A man was hacked to death at Patapur village under Purusottampur Police limits in the district allegedly for suspicion of practising sorcery.  As per the report,  one Murali Pradhan of the same village has committed the murder after suspecting the deceased of practising sorcery. The deceased has been identified as Krushna Chandra Pradhan, a native of Patapur village.

According to sources, locals spotted the body of Krushna lying in a pool of blood near a tree in the village and subsequently informed the matter to police.

On receiving information police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

Later, one Murali Pradhan of the same village reached the police station with an axe and surrendered before Police over Pradhan’s death.

Murali has confessed that he has hacked Krushna to death suspecting that he was practising sorcery, informed sources.

Meanwhile, the Cops launched a probe into the murder after Murali surrendered at the police station.

This is not the first case in the State where a crime was committed due to suspicion of practising sorcery.  Earlier, back in January, a similar crime had been committed in Malkangiri.

In the earlier case, Chitrakonda Police had arrested two persons – Jagannath Kinchai Gundu and Daitari Khara – in connection with their involvement in a sorcery-related killing.
