Puri: Tension prevailed in Badagaon village under Badabangor panchayat in the district on Friday as a man was reportedly electrocuted after coming in contact with an 11kV high-tension wire.
The deceased has been identified as Hrushikesh Chhotray (55).
Chhotray who left his home in some work in the morning unknowingly touched the snapped high-tension electric wire and died on the spot near Balighai area.
Angry locals staged a road blockade at Balighai Square following the incident and demanded suitable compensation to the next of kin of the deceased.
Traffic movement was disrupted on the Puri-Konark Road due to the blockade and hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on either side of the road for hours.
Ramachandi Police has reached the spot and is trying to pacify the angry mob.
