Subarnapur: A 35-year-old man died after he jumped off the rooftop of Biramaharajpur police station this evening. The deceased identified as Linga Amat of Tithipali village was brought to the police station for allegedly creating a nuisance in Biramaharajpur tehsil office.
Sources said that Amat created commotion in the tehsil office over a petty issue for which the authorities informed the police. Police rushed to the spot and brought him to the police station. However, Amat had an argument with the police over his detention.
Few minutes after he ran to the rooftop and jumped from the roof of the police station. Amat with serious head injuries was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to VSS Medical College and Hospital in Burla. However, Amat succumbed to his injuries on his way to the Medical College.
Family members of the deceased on the other hand alleged negligence on the part of the police and demanded stringent action against the police personnel.
