Man critically injured in panther attack in Angul

Angul: Reliving the scary episodes of Royal Bengal tigress ‘Sundari’ attack in the district a few months ago, a man sustained grievous injury after getting mauled by a panther in Antulia village under Satkosia wildlife sanctuary today.

The victim has been identified as Chitta Ranjan Dalabehera of Dalabehera Sahi of the same village.

As per the report, the victim had been to attend nature’s call near the forest in the village early this morning when the predator attack took place. The panther which had sneaked into the area last night pounced on him and mauled badly before leaving towards the forest.

Some locals reached out to help the victim after hearing his screaming later and rushed him to Angul DHH with chest, hand and head injuries.

Forest officials have rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
