Man critical after being hacked by son-in-law in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: An elderly man sustained critical injury after being stabbed by none other than his son-in-law over past enmity in Kusunupur village under Karanjamal panchayat in the district on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Bhagaban Behera of the same village.

As per a complaint filed by the victim with Bangada Police in the case, the accused identified as Bikash Parida had married his daughter Sabita after abducting and taking her to Bengaluru in Karnataka State a few months ago. However, Bikash returned back to the village after Sabita died in Bengaluru due to some reason a few days ago and was held by police after Bhagaban lodged a case against him in the incident.

However, Bikash who got bail in the case recently intercepted the victim on his way back to home from grazing cattle this morning and started abusing. Later, he took out a ‘Bhujali’ (sharp weapon) and hacked him brutally.

Bhagaban sustained critical injury in the attack and was rushed to Bainga Hospital by family members from where he has been shifted to Basudevpur Hospital.

Police are investigating into the case and trying to trace the accused who is absconding.
