Balasore: A person allegedly beat his wife to death at their home in Gentapada under Chandipur police limits in Balasore district of Odisha late last night.
The deceased has been identified as Sumitra Kamila, wife of Ajay Kamila.
According to reports, Ajay tied her legs and hands with a rope and repeatedly thrashed her in an inebriated condition.
The neighbours of the couple woke up after hearing the screams of Sumitra and overpowered the accused and took him to the police station.
Later, the police seized the body and sent for autopsy.
A case has been registered under several sections of IPC and investigation is underway in this connection, said police.
