Man beaten up, ostracised for selling dog meat

Jharsuguda: Tension ran high in Jaipur village under Lakhanpur police limits in the district last night after a youth sold rabid dog meat to residents in the name of pork and got beaten up and ostracised by people in return.

The accused could not have been identified so far as he has been absconding from the village following the incident.

The accused had put some meat for sale in the village on Friday morning. While he claimed the meat to be pork collected from a wild boar hunted by him, a number of families in the village purchased and consumed it in the lunch on the same day.

However, trouble erupted in the village after a group of women found the youth cutting rabid dogs at his home in the night. Smelling rat in the incident they informed the villagers who beat up the youth on suspicion of selling dog meat.

No police case has been lodged in the incident.
