Keonjhar: A man was beaten to death during a group clash at Joda in Keonjhar district on Monday. The incident was the fallout of a petty argument, sources said.
The Bolero vehicle of D P Singh, a contractor of Tata Company, was hit by an auto-rickshaw while his driver was taking out the vehicle from his garage. This led to a heated arguement between the drivers.
In the meantime, some employees of Tata Copany and the friends of Singh’s driver gathered together and atttacekd the auto-rickshaw driver.
After being beatten up, the auto-rickshaw driver went to the slum he stays and informed his friends about the incident.
Later, his friends armed with lathis and sharp-edged weapons stormed into DP Singh’s office and afttacked him.
In retaliation, Singh’s collegues also rushed to the spot, following which a group fight ensued.
An employee of the Tata Copany died on the spot while DP Singh’s son Rabi Kiran and others were injured during the fight. The accused soon fled the spot following the death of the employee.
Meanwhile, police forces have been deployed in the area as tension continued to prevail.
