Man arrested on charges of blackmailing woman in Pattamundai

Kendrapada: A man was arrested on charges of blackmailing and outraging a women’s modesty a woman here in Pattamundai on Monday. The man had shot obscene video of the woman and used it for blackmailing.

The accused has been identified as Soumya Ranjan Sahoo.

Reportedly, Soumya has been a relationship with the victim since 2014. He then forcefully became physically involved with her and without her knowledge recorded the whole incident.

Using this obscene video Soumya blackmailed and had a few more physical encounters with the victim. Later, he forced the woman to marry him. When the victim’s family refused to this proposition, the accused posted the video on various social media sites.

The victim’s family lodged a complaint with Pattamundai police. The police arrested Soumya based on the complaint and also seized the video and also his mobile phone used to shoot the video.
