Man accused with setting wife on fire & killing her

Mayurbhanj: One Prafulla Nayak of Udubeda village has been accused of dousing his wife with kerosene and setting her on fire along with his two aides resulting in her death. The victim succumbed to burn injuries at Anandapur Sub Divisional Hospital here on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Liza Dehury, daughter of Raina Dehury belonging to Koilipala village under Mahuladiha police station.

The couple had a ritualistic marriage about a year ago. Raina and other family members have alleged that Liza had an unhappy marriage and her in-laws were for no apparent reason unhappy with her.

While Liza was back at her parent’s place most of the time, due to Raja Parba she was at her husband Prafulla’s village at his invitation to attend the Raja Mela; informs Raina.

“We rushed to help her after listening to her screams for help. By the time we reached she was with severe burn injuries. Just before losing consciousness she said that her husband Prafulla with two others doused her with kerosene and set her on fire,” said Raina.

While Liza was rushed to Anandapur Sub Divisional Hospital but she could not be saved.

Liza’s family has blamed Prafulla for her unfortunate death.
