Man, 2 school students killed in road accident in Bargarh

Bargarh: Hundreds of locals staged a road blockade on Sohela-Padmapur route at Petupali Chhak under Melchhamunda police limits of the district following the death of three persons including two minor students due to road accident on Tuesday. The angry locals also demanded adequate compensation for the families of the deceased persons.

According to reports, three persons, including the school students died on the spot after the motorcycle on which they were travelling hit a JCB excavator, which was engaged in a road construction in the area.

The road accident took places when the deceased were returning home after attending tuition.

The deceased persons have been identified as Saroj Pradhan, the bike driver, and Akash Kumar and Baishnab Bhoi, both students of Class-IX.

When the news of the road mishap spread in the area, the locals gathered on the spot and set afire the JCB excavator, four trucks and the road construction camp. They also demanded immediate arrest and stringent action against the contractor.

On being informed, Melchhamunda police reached the spot and are on the toes to pacify the irate locals.
