Mamita Meher Murder Case: Orissa High Court Seeks Investigation Status From Government

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court sought a status report from the government on Thursday in the much hyped Mamita Meher murder case.

A Division Bench issued orders in this regard after the first hearing on the Mamita Meher murder case.

The Division Bench of the High Court issued notifications to the government to comply with the investigation status report, undertaken by police after hearing a petition filed by the family members of Mamita Meher.

At the same time, the next date for the hearing of the case has been scheduled for December 3.

In the latest development in the Mamita Meher murder case in Odisha, the deceased’s family has moved Orissa High Court seeking justice. Deceased Mamita Meher’s father has reportedly sought unbiased investigation of the case.

As per reports, the deceased’s family has filed a petition in Orissa High Court where they have sought unbiased investigation and justice. Further, reports say, the petitioners have prayed for investigation of the case in fast track Court.

It has also been learnt that Odisha State Governement, Police DG, Balangir SP and IIC of Sindhekela Police Station have been made opposite parties in the petition.

It is to be noted that the principal of Sunshine Public School in Mahaling village of Kalahandi district was asked by Govinda Sahu of the School Committee to reach Sunshine Public School for a meeting following she went missing. Mamita’s family members have alleged that Sahu was sexually harassing women employees of the school and forcing them to have physical relation with him.

Her family lodged a complaint with the police against Govinda. Later, Govinda and another person have been arrested in this connection.

Last week Odisha’s Northern Range DIG Deepak Kumar had informed in a presser that apart from the two accused persons nobody else was involved in the murder of the school teacher.

He also said that Mamita Meher had not visited Raipur as was discussed earlier. Police are investigating the case in details. The 161 statement of at least 10 witnesses have been recorded. The probe is going on with the help of the technical team. He also refuted the allegation that the matter reached Court late and claimed it to be baseless. The main accused persons of the case, Govinda Sahu and Radheshyam Chandi are in jail, he said.
