Cuttack: The father and brother of Mamita Meher, deceased lady teacher of Sunshine Public School in Kalahandi, have sought for Orissa High Court’s intervention. Deceased Mamita’s father Suchandra Meher and brother Bonty Meher have demanded to complete the investigation process as soon as possible as the whole family is still going through a very sensitive situation.

They have said that the political parties and media have been continuously interfering in the family’s privacy and have urged not to assassinate Mamita’s character.

Although they had appealed the same to the local authorities, no action was taken upon it, they alleged. Hence, they have urged to submit the charge sheet else the family has to face the media trial everyday.

It has also been learnt that Odisha State Governement, Police DG, Balangir SP and IIC of Sindhekela Police Station have been made opposite parties in the petition.

Her family lodged a complaint with the police against Govinda. Later, Govinda and another person have been arrested in this connection.

Last week Odisha’s Northern Range DIG Deepak Kumar had informed in a presser that apart from the two accused persons nobody else was involved in the murder of the school teacher.

He also said that Mamita Meher had not visited Raipur as was discussed earlier. Police are investigating the case in details. The 161 statement of at least 10 witnesses have been recorded. The probe is going on with the help of the technical team. He also refuted the allegation that the matter reached Court late and claimed it to be baseless. The main accused persons of the case, Govinda Sahu and Radheshyam Chandi are in jail, he said.
