Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for a 12-hour in Boudh, Balasore, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts today while a six hour strike in Bhadrak over the murder case of Mahalinga Sunshine Public School teacher Mamita Meher.

The party has demanded for an investigation by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and for the capital punishment of hanging till death, as given under Section 354(5) of the Criminal Code of Procedure 1973, of the prime accused Govinda Sahu.

Reportedly, the bandh will be effective from 6 am to 6 pm today due to which the vehicular movement on key roads will be affected and all the sops will remain closed. The trains have stopped at several stations in these districts

BJP had also observed bandh in other districts such as Subarnapur, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Balangir and Kalahandi earlier this month.

It is noteworthy of that Mamita’s father Suchandra Meher has alleged that Govinda had asked the clerk of his college to write the missing report of Mamita and made him sign the FIR. Unfortunately, Suchandra did not read the FIR while signing on it.

After writing the missing complaint, Suchandra and his family members went to Kegaon Police Station to hand over the complaint to the police. However, Govinda Sahu rushed to the police station before their arrival but the Officer-In-Charge did not receive the missing complaint. He said them to rather file the FIR copy at Turekela Police Station.

Before the day she was murdered, Mamita had gone out earlier too, claimed Suchandra saying that he suspects the involvement of others in the case. “All those who are involved in the murder of my daughter should be arrested immediately and hanged to death,” demanded Suchandra.
