Malkangiri records 40 degrees Celsius as temperature soars in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Malkangiri recorded the hottest temperature of the day with 40 degree Celsius as heat wave conditions intensified in Odisha on Sunday.

According to the city-based regional Meteorological department, several places, where temperature used to be low, witnessed mercury soaring above 35 degree Celsius today.

After Malkangiri, the second highest temperature of the day was recorded in Bhubaneswar. Residents of the state capital city sizzled at 38.7 degree Celsius. Likewise, the people in Cuttack witnessed a scorching heat of 37.6 degree Celsius.

Likewise, the mercury touched 37 degree Celsius in Balangir while in Jharsuguda it touched 36.1 degrees Celsius. Besides, the temperature rose to 36.5 degree Celsius in Hirakud and Talcher followed by Sambalpur (36.1), Sundergarh (35), Balasore (34.8) and Puri (32.8).

The weatherman forecasted that the heat wave conditions to prevail in some areas of coastal and north interior part of the state over the next few days.
