Malkangiri Chief Agriculture Officer Under Vigilance Scanner

Malkangiri: Odisha Vigilance conducted a raid on properties associated with the Chief Agriculture Officer of Malkangiri district on Tuesday morning on the allegation of accumulation of disproportionate assets.

The Chief Agriculture Officer has been identified as M Anand Rao. Simultaneous searches are being conducted by two teams of Odisha Vigilance.

Based on a piece of reliable information, the vigilance sleuths have conducted raids at six places in Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, and Visakhapatnam. The officials of the anti-corruption department have been conducting searches at two places along with his residence in Nabarangpur, his office as well as residence in Malkangiri, and his house in Visakhapatnam.

During house searches so far, the following movable and immovable assets worth over Rs.2.21 Crores have been unearthed in the name of Makka Anand Rao and his family members;

1) Cash Rs.1,75,950/-.
2) One triple storeyed building over plot No.735/1 at Nabarangpur with approx plinth area of 8427 Sqft. near LIC Office, Nabarangpur.
3) One triple storeyed building over plot No. 735/1 at Nabarangpur with approx plinth area of 5670 Sqft. near LIC Office, Nabarangpur (under construction).
4) 8 plots including 2 plots in prime area of Nabarangpur town and 3 plots at Podalguda, Dist-Nabarangpur in the name of his spouse M.Anita Anand and 3 plots at Podalguda, Dist-Nabarangpur in the name of Makka Anand Rao, Chief District Agriculture Officer, Malkangiri.
5) 1 four wheeler and 1 two wheeler.
6) Gold, silver, Bank deposits and household articles worth over Rs 11.73 Lakhs.
