Sambalpur: A major fire broke out at a coal tar pitch factory near Jayantpur Chhak in Sambalpur late last night.
Properties worth lakhs were gutted in the fire mishap. On being informed, 3 teams of fire brigrade from Sambalpur and one team from Maneshwar fire brigade rushed to the spot and doused the flames with great difficulty.
As flames continued to intensify, the fire became uncontrollable with thick black smoke emerging from the building, thus creating a panic in the area.
No casualty has been reported in the incident.
Burst of oil pipes is being suspected to have caused the fire, officials of fire department informed.
Earlier, fire mishap has occurred in this factory for five times.
