Kendrapara: Tightening the noose around the necks of culprits involved in Kandira village firing which took place in the district yesterday and left one dead, police arrested the main accused in the case, Sanjay Biswal alias Babu following an encounter in Rajnagar area in the same night.
As per the report, after getting a tip-off on Babu’s presence at Kurunti Chhak under Rajnagar, a joint team of Rajnagar, Aul and Pattamundai Police launched a raid on him late in the night. However, the criminal tried to give police a slip and opened fire at them. As the cops retaliated, Babu sustained two bullet shots on his left leg and fell off his bike to be nabbed.
Police seized a pistol, a number of live bullets and the bike from the possession of the criminal.
Babu has been admitted to Rajnagar Community Health Centre (CHC) after his arrest.
Notably, Babu along with five of his aides opened fire at one Kishore Sethi (35) in Kandira village over a dispute. Later, Rajnagar Police had managed to arrest one of the culprits identified as Pabitra Swain of Jarimula village.
