Maha Shivratri 2022: Mahadeepa will be raised atop Lingaraj Temple at this time

Bhubaneswar: Time table for conducting the rituals of Maha Shivratri at Lingaraj Temple this year has been finalized, informed Khurda Collector Sangram Keshari Mohapatra. The timings were finalized during the meeting of the coordination committee yesterday.

According to Mohapatra, the Mahadeepa will be raised atop the Lingaraj temple at 10 PM on Maha Shivratri, whic falls on March 1.

As per the decision taken in the meeting, devotees can light deepas (wicker lamps) on the premises of the Lingaraj Temple by following the Covid norms. However, they will not be allowed to go into the temple’s garbha gruha (sanctum sanctorum), they can have darshan of Lord Lingaraj from near the Adakatha.

As per the decision, the abakasa niti of Lord Lingaraj will be held from 3 AM to 3.30 AM on Maha Shivratri day.

Family members of the sevayats of the temple will be allowed to have darshan of Lord Lingaraj till 5 AM while the devotees can go for darshan after 5 AM.
