Puri: The holy dip rituals at Chandrabhaga beach near Konark in Odisha have been observed today without the participation of devotees.
Reportedly, the prohibitory orders of Section 144 have been clamped by Puri district administration around Chandrabhaga Beach in Konark in view of Magha Saptami. The decision has been taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Besides Chandrabhaga Beach, the prohibitory orders will remain in force till 11 AM tomorrow at Tirtha Pushkarini (pond), and Navagraha temple.
The district administration has prohibited the general public from taking the holy dip in Chandrabhaga. However, some servitors were permitted to conduct the rituals of the presiding deities of Konark, Lord Tribeniswara, Lord Aisaneswara, and Lord Dakhineswara.
The deities took the holy dip at Chandrabhaga Beach as per the rituals adhering to the COVID guidelines.
It is to be noted here that devotees gather at the Chandrabhaga beach near Konark to take a holy dip and offer prayers the occasion of Magha Saptami every year.
This year, the Tithi begins on February 7, 2022 (4.38 AM) and ends on February 8, 2022 (6.16 AM) while the Sunrise Time for Konark on Magha Saptami 2022 is 6.19 am.
