Maa Mahima Dhaba evicted from Nayapalli area in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a joint eviction drive by BMC, BDA and Commissionerate Police the Mahima Dhaba was evicted today from the Nayapalli area in Bhubaneswar of Odisha. The Dhaba was said to be a hurdle on the way in the renovation work of Kalinga Stadium as it was in front of Gate No. 9. Earlier also BMC and BDA had attempted eviction of the Dhaba but the attempt could not be successful.

The eviction of Mahima Dhaba matter was sub-judice in the Court. However, the case was disposed by Orissa High Court yesterday. Following the disposal and subsequent communication of GA department to the ULB such enforcement undertaken today.

Mahima Dhaba had occupied the plot no. 695 and 696 in Nayapalli Mouza. The Dhaba was on the side of NH 16 in front of Gate no 9 of Kalinga Stadium and was an obstruction in the renovation of the stadium. This Dhaba was reportedly operating on government land for the last many years.

When the BDA, BMC officials reached the spot for eviction along with Commissionerate Police they had to scuffle with the locals who evicted the eviction drive. Even some people who were against the eviction drive stayed inside the dhaba after locking the eatery’s entrance. However, later Police managed to get them out of the dhaba and the eviction drive was carried out.

On the other hand advocate of the Dhaba owner has said that they will again move to Court in this matter.
