Low pressure triggers rainfall in Odisha: Yellow warning issued to 11 districts

Bhubaneswar: A yellow warning has been issued to 11 districts of Odisha today due to the low pressure that formed over North Odisha and adjoining south Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal.

Reportedly, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, and Gajapati have warned of heavy rainfall till 8.30 am on July 6.

The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has informed that the monsoon trough has extended from Jaisalmer in Rajasthan to eastern central Bay of Bengal through Kota, Odisha’s Jharsuguda, and Puri. Due to this, few districts have been witnessing spells of rain.

The weather department further added that the low-pressure area, which formed on Monday, is active in northern Chhattisgarh and adjoining northeastern Madhya Pradesh today.

It is pertinent to mention that under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over south Jharkhand and neighbourhood, the low-pressure area had formed. It formed with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 5.8 km above mean sea level.
