Low pressure to trigger heavy rains in Odisha

rainBhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar centre of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted heavy rains across Odisha in the next 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal.

As per the bulletin issued by the met office, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places in the districts of North and South Odisha.

Strong gusty surface wind from Northwesterly direction with speed reaching 45-50 KMPH gusting to 60 KMPH in South Coastal Odisha and wind from Easterly direction with speed reaching 35-45 KMPH gusting to 55 KMPH in North Coastal Odisha likely to prevail along and off Odisha Coast.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as the condition of the sea is likely to be rough in the next 24 hours, the bulletin added.
