Low Pressure Likely Over Bay Of Bengal In 24 Hrs, Cyclone Possible

Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre situated here in Bhubaneswar, has informed that a low-pressure area is likely over Bay of Bengal.

In a tweet on the official twitter handle, the MeT department told, “A Low-Pressure Area is likely to form over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.”

In the afternoon bulletin, the MeT said, “The cyclonic circulation over Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal now lies over Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal and extends upto mid-tropospheric level. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over the same area during next 24 hours.”

The low pressure is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm, informed Dr. Sarat Chandra Sahu, Director of the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC).
