Low pressure area over Bay of Bengal to trigger heavy rain, Yellow warning issued to 8 districts in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Saturday that a Low Pressure Area has formed over Northwest adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh, south Odisha coasts under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal coast.

Under the influence of the low pressure, rainfall activity with isolated heavy rain are very likely over Odisha, Andhra Pradesh on August 28 and 29 and over Telangana from August 28 to 31 and over Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand on August 28 and 29.

As per IMD, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabrangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam in the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms warning has also been issued to 16 districts.
