Pipili: Mystery shrouds the death of a couple which found hanging to a tree in Rayagurupur village under Pipili police limits in Puri district on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Laba Prusty of Durgadaspur and Soudamini Behera of Routapada villages of the same district. They were missing from the house since last night.
As per the families of the deceased couple, they went missing from house last evening and didn’t return home till late in the night. While a frantic search of their family members to trace them went in vein later in the night, bodies of the duo were found from a farmland near Rayagurupur village this morning. The couple was seen hanging to a tree by a rope.
While the incident looked like a case of suicide from the circumstantial evidence, the victims’ families have refuted such speculation. They have instead suspected that the duo have been murdered over past enmity.
Notably, the deceased boy ran a tent house business in the village and the girl worked as a teacher. While the duo was in love since past few months and had done a court marriage, their families had also accepted it at a later stage.
Police had not reached the spot till this report was being filed.
