Puri: The Padma Besha (lotus attire) ritual of Lord Jagannath and his siblings at the Srimandir in Puri is being observed today.
Padma Pokhari (lotus pond) will be created in front of the Ratna Singhasan as part of the ritual.
As per the tradition, the Padma Besha ritual falls between the new moon day of Magha and Basanta Panchami. It is performed during the Bada Singhara ritual at night time. The deities are decorated with mukhapadma, kundal, chita, tahiya, swans, shankhas and chakras prepared from thermocol.
The Besha will continue till Abakash and Mangal Alati ritual tomorrow.
The devotees can enter the temple and have a darshan of the holy Trinity.
