Khordha: A looter sustained injuries after being shot at accidentally by an aide during a dacoity bid at Tapang Chhak on NH-16 in the district last night.
The injured looter has been identified as Sumeet Badajena of Begunia village of Khordha district.
Sumeet along with two aides intercepted a lorry truck at Tapang Chhak late in the night on Monday with a motive to loot. But much to Sumeet’s shock, while trying to threaten the driver and the helper of the truck at gun point, one of his aides accidentally pressed the trigger. Sumeet sustained gun shot on his left chest following the incident.
Finding them in trouble the aides of the injured looter immediately fled from the spot.
Some locals rushed Sumeet first to Khordha DHH and then shifted to AIIMS in Bhubaneswar where his condition is stated to be critical.
Khordha Police have reached the spot and started investigation to trace the absconding looters.
