Cuttack: Hundreds of locals of Champeswar village blocked Cuttack-Narasinghpur road demanding allocation of a cremation ground today morning.
As per the report, locals took to the street at around 3 am last night protesting the administration’s apathy in solving their issue sat on the road. By today morning hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road due to the blockade.
As per the complaint of the villagers, some land mafia have encroached upon the land which was being used by them as the cremation ground earlier. Due to the encroachment, the road connecting the ground had narrowed horribly causing a problem during the funeral procession.
While police have reached the spot to control the situation, the protestors are adamant to continue the blockade until their demand for a new cremation ground is met.
