Locals block road after man dies of electrocution in Cuttack

Cuttack: Tension prevailed in Jaripada village under Cuttack Sadar police limits last night following death of a man in electrocution after coming in contacting with a low hanging 11 kv power transmission line.

The deceased has been identified as Bipin Bihari Khatua (40) of the same locality.

As per the report, Khatua had gone to pluck lady-finger which he had grown in his farmland in the village last evening. On his way back to home the victim touched a low hanging 11 kv wire and died on the spot.

As the news of the death of the victim spread, villagers rushed to the Pratapnagari-Gobindpur road and blocked it protesting compensation to the kin of the deceased. They also alleged dereliction of duty of the CESU staff in fixing the low lying high voltage line which claimed  a valuable life.

Cuttack Sadar Police had reached the spot and was trying to pacify the mob till this report was being filed.
