Koraput: The locals and the police have clashed over Andhra Pradesh conducting election at Kotia on Thursday. The villagers violated the prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and cast their vote.

It is noteworthy that, the district administration had imposed Section 144 in as many as 22 villages under Kotia panchayat in Koraput in Odisha on Wednesday.

According to reports, the locals of Talganjeipadar, Fatusineri and Fagun Sineri violated the order and a group of voters marched towards the polling booth to cast their votes.

Odisha police stopped the voters while they were on their way to the polling station which lead to a clash between the voters and police.

The MLAs along with the former leaders of Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress parties opposed the election by protesting near Fatu Sineri on Andhra-Odisha border.

It is worth adding that, the Odisha government has filed yet another petition against Andhra Pradesh in the Supreme Court of India. The Andhra Pradesh government declared the second phase of elections despite the case being sub-judice in the apex court.
