Lioness Shyama dies in Nandankanan of Odisha

Bhubaneswar:  A lioness named Shyama of Nandankanan Zoological Park died on Saturday leaving the stock down to 16 in the animal park.

As per reports, the lioness was sick for the last three years while she was being medically treated regularly. It was found that the lioness had a tumour near one of its ear. The tumour had been operated.

Reportedly, she was also regularly experiencing pain as she had another tumour in its anus. The lioness was under treatment for the last three years for multiple aliments. Nandankanan zoo Authorities had been taking care of its medical treatment.

The health condition of the said lioness was critical for the last 7 days. Veterinary doctors were regularly treating her. However, despite all the efforts, she passed away today.

Lioness Shyama had been brought to Nandankanan in 2013 when today’s PM Narendra Modi was the CM of Gujarat. Then, Gujarat Govt had provided two Asiatic lions to Nandankanan. However, after its arrival in Nandankanan the lioness was often falling sick.
