Balangir: Normal life remained paralysed in Balangir town for the second day today also as the two-day bandh call by Balangir Milita Kriyanusthan Committee in demand for a construction of a bypass outside the town entered its second day.

While shops and other business establishments observed a complete shutdown starting from the morning due to the bandh schools, colleges and other business establishments also remained closed.

Commuters faced a tough time during the bandh observation as both government and private buses remained out of service in Balangir in view of the picketing and road blockade carried out by members of the kriyanusthan committee.

Members of Bajrang Dal took to the streets later in the morning and staged protests on the streets as the group extended its support to the flyover construction demand and observed a 12-hour bandh. The activists of the Bajrang Dal also staged road blockade and resorted to sloganeering protesting the administration’s apathy.

Notably, tension engulfed the Balangir town after a +2 girl student was mowed down by a speeding truck at Satyanarayapada on Wednesday. Balangir Town Congress Committee observed a 12-hour bandh yesterday over the bypass demand.
