Last Day Of Raja In Odisha: Smell Of “Pitha” Still Emanates From Every House

Bhubaneswar: In the state of Odisha, the auspicious occasion of Raja festival is celebrated with enthusiasm for three days.

However, due to the rise of the Covid-19 outbreak during the previous two years, Raja has been celebrated in a low-key manner.

During Raja festival, young girls take rest from house chores, dress up in their best, play games, eat the special ‘Odia Pitha’ (pancake) prepared on the occasion and enjoy in the swings.

Today is the last of Raja Parba. During the celebration of Raja, various competitions are held in various places.

The festival, however, last up to four days in some regions of the state, with Basumati Snana on the fourth day (bathing and cleansing of mother earth).
