Labourer beaten to death for asking wage in Odisha’s Koraput; 3 arrested

Koraput: A labourer was beaten to death with a wooden plank by his supervisor over wage dispute here in Odisha on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Bijaya Nanda Prasad. He belonged to Bihar.

According to reports, Bijaya was working as a labourer at the construction work of a building of a private hospital in Ashok Nagar here.

Bijaya had been demanding his wage dues but his supervisor, identified as Bhawan Singh, was avoiding him. He repeated his demand this morning that led to a heated argument between the two.

In a fit of rage, Bhawan, with the help of his two associates – Satish Kumar Singh and Rajesh Kumar Singh, repeatedly hit Bijaya with a wooden plank. Bijaya reportedly died on the spot.

On being informed, Town police reached the spot and seized the body and sent it to hospital for autopsy test.

Police also arrested Bhawan and his two associates – Satish and Rajesh- in this connection.

The victim as well as the three accused belonged to Bihar, police said.
