Labourer amputated in crusher plant accident in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: A labour got amputated after his hands came under an ore crusher machine at Bolani plant of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in Keonjhar district today.

The victim has been identified as Braja Munda, a contractual labourer of Balani crusher plant.

Braja had been engaged on ore cutting assignment at a 600 TPH crusher machine at around 6 am in the morning when the accident took place. His left hand slipped into the crusher due to carelessness leaving at least three fingers severed.

A profusely bleeding Braja was rushed to SAIL hospital for treatment by colleagues post the mishap and then shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar due to critical condition.

Tension prevailed on the mines premise post the accident as labourers blamed authorities for the same.

Company authorities are yet to respond on the issue.
