Kunduli Gang rape: Congress unveils victim’s statue

Koraput: While uproar over the death of Kunduli gang rape victim continues across the state, the Odisha unit of Congress, as a mark of tribute, unveiled her statue on Thursday.

The statue was unveiled at Kunduli Hatapada on National Highway-26 on the 11th day ritual of her death. The minor was allegedly gang raped by four men in uniform on October 10, 2017 while returning from Kunduli Hatapada.

Many heavy weight leaders of Congress, BJD and BJP attended the special ritual ceremony for the Kunduli braveheart and paid her floral tributes.

Koraput MLA Krishna Chandra Sagaria, Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Laxmipur MLA Kailash Chandra Kulesika, former Nabaragpur MP Pradeep Majhi, Koraput Congress leader Minakhi Bahinipati, and BJP leader Jayaram Pangi attended the event.

Hundreds of locals from the nearby villages also participated in the 11th ritual of the deceased. The native of Sorisapadar committed suicide on January 22.
