Cuttack: A report from the Kolkata-based Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) on Monday revealed that the Kunduli victim was never gang raped as no semen was found in any of the specimens sent to the laboratory. Hence the CFSL report matched the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) report, which had said the same earlier.

“We have received the report submitted by Director CFSL, Kolkata through the Court, which reveals that the stains available on the wearing apparels of the victim yielded identical autosomal genetic profiles of female origin from one and the same female individual only,” said R.B. Panigrahy, SP, State Crime Branch while briefing the newsmen.

Panigrahy also said that the CFSL report  is categorical in stating that from the wearing apparels of the alleged victim girl only human blood of female origin was found and no stains of semen or saliva was detected which confirms the integrity of the final report earlier submitted by the SFSL to the Honourable Court.

It is worthwhile to mention here that SFSL sent all the samples to the CFSL after an alleged forensic report was transmitted in a particular electronic media on January 25 regarding discrepancy and anomaly in the SFSL report showing presence of semen stains in inter-divisional report prepared by biology and serology division of SFSL, Bhubaneswar contrary to the final report submitted to Court.

“Notably on 10.10.2017 an allegation of gang rape was filed in Pottangi Police Station. The victim was immediately rushed to the Kunduli CHC. Dr Prince Parida had done preliminary treatment. As per his preliminary report it was suggested that the victim had no vulval or anal external injuries, the Crime Branch SP noted.

Panigrahy further said, “The victim was later referred to Koraput DHH from Kunduli CHC. On 10.10.2017 and 11.10.2017, a team of doctors led by Dr Sudeepa Dash, Asst Prof, FMT, MKCG, Berhampur had examined her medically. The medical report also reveals that there were no signs and symptoms of recent sexual intercourse. Hymen intact and no tears found in private parts during the time of examinations.”

The state government has already ordered a high level probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) monitored by the Orissa High Court into the alleged gang rape of the Kunduli victim and her suicide.
