Koraput: The Commission of Inquiry on the alleged Kunduli gang-rape and suicide case will begin its seventh phase hearing and recording of statements in the Semiliguda camp court today.

The victim’s mother, brother and maternal uncle have been served notices to depose before the commission.

The minor tribal girl from Musaguda village of Koraput district had on October 10 alleged that four persons in ‘uniform’ had gang-raped her. Initially, the case was investigated by police but following a huge public outcry, it was handed over to Crime Branch.

The girl had hanged herself to death at her house on January 22. Following the incident, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on February 7 ordered a court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case and sought report within three months. On April 29, the Commission of Inquiry visited Musaguda village and interacted with the family members of the victim.

Later, the tenure of the inquiry commission was extended two times, one on March 26 and on June 22.
