Koraput: Korput SP Kanwar Vishal Singh today ordered a probe after a video two cops thrashing a youth in public on charges of smuggling ganja in Baipariguda area in the district has gone viral on social media.
Koraput police have seized ganja weighing 170 kilograms in three separate incidents in the district in last 24 hours. Police have also arrested seven accused including three from Uttar Pradesh for smuggling of ganja. Besides police seized three vehicles including two cars used for transportation of the seized ganja.
However, in of the incidents, cops reportedly thrashed one of the accused after a cat-and-mouse chase. The video of the incident later became viral in social media.
“ Koraput SP has asked me to conduct a probe into the incident and submit a report. It will be premature to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the incident. I will conduct an investigation into the incident,” said SDPO, Jeypore, Sagarika Nath.
