KISS University students lift All India Under-19 Rugby Championship trophy

Baripada: The women team of Bhubaneswar-based KISS University became the champion of All India Under-19 Rugby Championship here today.

Led by Sumitra Nayak, the KISS students lifted the trophy after beating West Bengal 5-0 this evening. They had entered the final after beating Chandigarh and Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, they thanked KISS and KITT founder Achyuta Samanta, their coach and other staff of the university for their support and help.

This was the first ever national Rugby tournament held in Odisha.

Teams from 20 different states had participated in the tournament which was held from October 5 to October 9 at MPC Autonomous College playground in Baripada of Mayurbhanj district.

The North Orissa University (NOU) and Mayurbhanj Rugby Association had organised the championship jointly.
