KISS Foundation extends helping hand to 2 Divyang girls, Dr Achyuta Samanta assures them job

Bhubaneswar: KISS Foundation has extended helping hand towards two Divyang (physically handicapped) girls from Kandhamal – Jyostna Majhi and Laxmi Patro.

Jyotsna and Laxmi are friends. They left their homes and came down to Bhubaneswar to take up vocational training and to become independent. While Jyotsna was doing DTP, Laxmi took up a tailoring job.

However, due to the pandemic and lockdown the two girls lost their jobs. Getting no other way, the two stayed in a school for the last six months.

After knowing about plight of the two girls, KISS and KIIT Founder, Kandhamal MP Dr. Achyuta Samanta wanted to help them.

“I wanted to help them in all possible ways. When I asked them about help, they expressed their desire to be independent and do some job. Despite being differently abled, they have a wish to be independent and self-sustaining,” Dr Samanta wrote about the girls on his Facebook page.

Dr. Samanta has assured the girls to provide employment at KISS. “They can also stay in the staff quarters and special arrangements will be made before they join. For the time being, we have provided them financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 for sustenance,” the post also said.

“I understand how difficult it is for girls to lead a life without financial stability and independence, especially the differently abled. We promise to take good care of them at KISS,” Dr Samanta added.

The two girls have conveyed their gratefulness to Dr. Samanta for the noble endevour.
