KISS extends helping hand to helpless sisters of Sundergarh

Bhubaneswar: KISS extends helping hand to a poor family. The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has extended helping hand to six poor, fatherless sisters of Sundergarh.

The six sisters of Saragidihi village in Sarasarabalang Gram Panchayat under Banei block in Sundergarh district lost their earning father Manabodh Kisan five years ago. Thereafter, their widow mother somehow was nourishing the big family. However, 3 years ago she fell victim to paralysis. Since then it became very tough for the six sisters to arrange their livelihood.

However, the eldest sister Sukamani came forward and started working as a daily wage labourer to save the family from the wrath of poverty.

After knowing about ordeal of the family from media reports founder of KISS Dr. Achyuta Samanta called for the family members last Sunday.

Accordingly the helpless family visited KISS Sunday and met Dr. Samanta who enquired about the family condition and assured them to help out.

Dr. Samanta assured that four off the sisters would be admitted to KISS who are presently deprived of education in the village due to poverty. The four sisters will great free education, accommodation, etc. at KISS. Out of the sisters Sumita will be admitted to Class VIII, Phulmati to Class VII, Baby to Class IV and Debini to Class II at KISS.

Although the elder sister of the family has studied up to Matric, as she has not attained the age of 18 she can’t be employed at KISS, Dr. Samanta lamented. Yet, the family will be provided with Rs. 5 thousand per month.

Once the sisters will be admitted to KISS their future will be safe. Dr. Samanta also assured the family that he will request the Sub Collector to help the family to have a house of their own. Besides, if the family needs any other help KISS foundation will immediately make an arrangement about it.

Henceforth Sukamani will not have to work as a labourer. And for this noble work of Dr. Samanta the family of late Manabodha Kishan has expressed their gratitude to the KISS founder.
