Bhubaneswar: The Men’s and Women’s Rugby teams of KIIT Deemed to be University won the Champion Trophy in the All India Inter University Rugby Championship recently. The mega sport event held at Panjab University, Chandigarh from 26th to 30th December-2019.
Both the Men’s and Women’s teams of KIIT won the Champions Trophy in 7S category, while the Women’s team became champion in the 15S category.
In the final match that was played on 30th December, KIIT Men’s Rugby team scored 10 points against Panjab University (07 points) in 7 S. Also the 7 S women team of KIIT (19 points) defeated Patliputra University (05 points).
In 15 S Women KIIT (24 points) Rugby team defeated Patiala University (06 points). The Rugby Teams from KIIT qualified for 1st Khelo India University Games to be held in KIIT Deemed to be University in February -2020.
Expressing his happiness over the achievement Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS congratulated all the Rugby players, coaches and officials of KIIT University.
