Bhubaneswar: KIIT Deemed to be University on today felicitated three athletes from the state Dutee Chand, Amiya Mallick and Jauna Murmu at a special programme.
The programme was organised to felicitate the athletes for winning gold medals at the 59th National Open Athletics Championships 2019 in Ranchi recently.
KIIT & KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta felicitated the sportspersons for their achievement. All three athletes are currently perusing their higher studies at KIIT.
Chand had clinched two gold medals in women’s 100 and 200 metres respectively, while ace sprinter Mallick bagged a gold medal in the men’s 100 metres, and Murmu bagged gold in 400 metres hurdles.
While Chand completed the 200 metres sprint in 23.17 seconds, she broke her own national record in 100 metres by clocking 11.22 seconds in the semi-finals. She later clocked 11.25 seconds in the final to claim the gold.
