Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police foiled a kidnapping bid in the city last night and arrested three abductors from Laxmisagar area. One of the miscreants also sustained critical injury during the raid.
The injured miscreant has been identified as Janmenjaya Rout.
Janmenjaya along with two of his aides came under police’s radar late in the night yesterday after they tried to abduct a youth from Badagada area in the city. While trying to take away the victim with them in a Bolero the trio were chased by a joint team of Badagada and Laxmisagar Police on Cuttack-Puri road.
After, the abductors tried to give police a slip by indiscriminate firing, cops retaliated by firing in return injuring Janmenjaya near Palasuni flyover. He was later caught with the aides by police.
The injured was rushed to Capital Hospital in the city by police and his condition is stated to be critical.
Police have also seized a country-made pistol and a number of live bullets from the possession of the abductors.
Police said Janmenjaya who headed the abductors’ gang has a number of cases, including kidnapping and extortion, pending against him under Balianta and Balipatna Police Stations.
